• Ransom Wine Co. & Distillery Tasting Room

    It’s not often that a winery is born out of a distillery parentage, but then again, Ransom is unique in many ways. Tad Seestedt founded Ransom Spirits in 1997 and initially crafted grappa and brandy. A few years later, the winemaking portion of the business bloomed with a few small-batch offerings. Through the years, Ransom has added gin, vodka, whisky and vermouth to the lineup. Visitors to McMinnville, Oregon can enjoy the full range of Ransom’s creations at the new tasting room on Third Street. Sample wine and spirits, or the staff would be happy to whip up a signature cocktail featuring Ransom’s distilled delights. The spot is open Thursday & Sunday 11am-5pm; Friday & Saturday 11am-7pm.

  • Matello Wines & Goodfellow Family Cellars

    With a fool for a totem and a dedication to Pinot Noir, Matello’s offerings will have you smiling for sure. The company, which comprises winemaker Marcus Goodfellow and partner Gaironn Poole, opened its brick-and-mortar location in 2011. Both Goodfellow and Poole have a long history working in restaurants and as sommeliers, which they put to good use each year by producing delicate, nuanced Pinot Noir. The winery is a member of the Deep Roots Coalition, which works to preserve terroir by requiring non-irrigated grapevines.   • Coleman Vineyard

    Randy and Kim Coleman are another pair of winemakers dedicated to producing top-quality Oregon wines while also using sustainable practices in the growing and farming process. They tout the benefits of cover crops, composting and in-row cultivation in extending the life of the vines and the soil in their blocks, which abut the Van Duzer Corridor through the Coast Range. Coleman Vineyard Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Syrah all bear the terroir of the area’s silty clay loam over fractured volcanic basalt. Samples can be had at the vineyard from noon to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday each week and by appointment other times.

  • Eola Hills Wine Cellars McMinnville Tasting Room & Wine Bar

    The popular winery in Rickreall brings its tasty wares to the historic McMinnville Mercantile Building in order to expand its glory to more visitors. Eola Hills offers hands-down the widest array of varietals, blends and dessert wines among all the vineyards in Oregon wine country. From Pinot Noir and Merlot to Zinfandel and Riesling, Eola Hills has got guests covered. The McMinnville tasting room opened recently in downtown and welcomes visitors between noon and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

  • Remy Wines

    Visitors in search of a truly unique experience must be sure to explore Remy Wines, where the attention is on small batches made solely of single varietal Italian wines. Who’d have guessed that the heart of Oregon’s wine country would feature a winery that works exclusively with Barbera, Sangiovese, Lagrein and Dolcetto. Winemaker Remy Drabkin has been sharing her obsession with niche, single-vineyard fruit since 2006, and you can savor the results yourself in the Remy Wines tasting room. It’s open noon to 6 p.m. every day.

  • Dominio IV Wines

    Viognier, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Tempranillo fruit get finely tuned attention at the hands of winemaker Patrick Reuter and his wife, Leigh Bartholomew. The couple touts the small-batch, biodynamically grown approach to grapes, partnering with other growers who share their priorities. In the McMinnville tasting room, visitors can sample single varietals and blends alike while enjoying the ambiance of a remodeled agricultural building in the Granary District that also houses a barrel room and laboratory. Enjoy a bottle at Dominio IV today or take full advantage of its age-worthy nature. The tasting room is open noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
