Currents Gallery Presents: “A RETROSPECTIVE – the Art of Dee Boyles & Paul Gentry – Gone But Not Forgotten”

Currents Gallery is honored to host a retrospective show in February and March featuring the art of Dee Boyles and Paul Gentry, who were both friends and colleagues.  The show will celebrate the life and work of these beloved artists who continue to be sorely missed.  Dee Boyles was a life-long artist who mastered many styles and media including graphic design, illustration, watercolor, oil painting, and Japanese woodblock printing. He participated in plein air painting competitions in various locations in California, Colorado, and the Oregon Lavender Festival where he won two first place awards.

Paul Gentry was a nationally recognized wood engraver whose prints have been collected by the Portland Art Museum, The Nelson-Atkins, Library of Congress, Smithsonian, Whitney, and Gugenheim.  Paul rendered many rural landscapes—old houses, farms, pastures, livestock and detailed trees and birds. He was also drawn to industrial forms and intricate metal structures, such as grain elevators, airports, and bridges, as well as the human figure. He worked in other mediums such as acrylic and watercolor paintings, assemblage and hand-built ceramics. The Paul Gentry work in our show is on loan from his full collection of art at River Gallery in Independence, Oregon.

Show Dates: Wednesday, February 7, through March 31, 2024
Gallery Hours: Wednesday – Saturday, 11am – 4 pm, Sunday 11am – 3pm
