In 2015, Bounty of Yamhill County placed #2 in USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Award for Best General Food Festival. This year’s wine event offers a line up of one-of-a-kind things to do and culinary adventures around Yamhill County over an extended weekend: Friday’s Winemaker Grill & Chill, outdoor alfresco dinners prepared by chef Paul Losch of Ruddick/Wood at Anam Cara Vineyard (Newberg), and chef Jesse Kincheloe of Valley Commissary at Remy Wines (McMinnville). Saturday activities include hot air ballooning over Willamette Valley wineries followed by a traditional balloonist’s toast and brunch; a stretch and sip hour of Hatha yoga to live music overlooking lush vineyards and the coastal mountain range which includes wine tasting and a farm fresh breakfast brunch; or a guided vineyard hike with a viticulturist at the 298-acre Erath Winery’s Willakia Vineyard that includes wine tasting among the vines then a catered lunch . In the evening, Penner-Ash Wine Cellars and Winderlea Winery & Vineyard host four-course dinners. Sunday offers more things to do for the body and palate with horseback riding through three Dundee Hill vineyards with tastings along the way and a boxed picnic lunch at the last winery; a guided kayak tour on the Willamette River with a winery picnic at Hyland Estates; or a food and wine pairing experience at R. Stuart & Co. This food and wine workshop is highly regarded as one of the most useful experiences when it comes to pairing your favorite dishes with wine and you’ll leave with a handy toolkit to help you make the perfect choice every time. Enjoy a three-course lunch prepared by chef Paul Bachand of Recipe with wines by R. Stuart & Co. Sunday evening, the festival draws to a close with a BIG NIGHT, an al fresco dining feast at Sokol Blosser Winery, featuring 25 chef, farmer and vintner pairings. While you’re in town, check out some of the 200+ wineries in a 20 mile radius of McMinnville. You can also walk your way to over 15 wineries in downtown McMinnville. Proceeds benefit Yamhill Enrichment Society (YES), which supports projects throughout Yamhill County to ensure a strong, vibrant community. Reservations are required for all events, and ticket prices range from $50 to $225. For full festival details and tickets, visit bountyofyamhillcounty.com.
