A Wine Tasting Event Extravaganza Now over twenty years running, Sip! Wine and Food Classic draws over 100 wineries, breweries, distilleries, food vendors, artists, craftspeople and makers from all over Oregon under one grand roof at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum. We all know McMinnville, Oregon is in the heart of the Willamette Valley wine country, but at Sip! you have the opportunity to taste wine that’s made down the road as easily as wine made a hundred miles away. All this wine tasting does work up an appetite so you’ll find gourmet and farm-to-table fare from McMinnville’s best restaurants and surrounding eateries at this 3-day wine event. This year, Sip! was as spectacular as ever. Over 15,000 attendees enjoyed the many wine tasting options, and there were also tons of choices for those not into vino. Beer from local breweries Golden Valley and Grain Station Brew Works as well as other craft beverage producers like a ciderhouse and six (!) distilleries were there to offer tasting samples, local makers were showing off wares. You can shop for handmade jewelry and art, an array of artisan crafts, and of course, wine by the bottle or case. Food offerings were as varied as the wine – oysters, chocolates, fine cheeses, even BBQ were all available for wine pairing, snacking or full meals. If you’ve never been to Sip! – put it on your calendar! You’ll chat with the wine makers themselves and enjoy diverse culinary offerings in a fun and festive atmosphere. Sample while taking in the sights, as the event spreads out among one of the world’s most impressive collections of historic aircraft like Howard Hughes’ famous Spruce Goose. You’ll find plenty more fun events and things to do during the Sip! Wine Classic weekend in McMinnville like the Cycle and Sip Sunday where you can take an scenic 30-mile bike ride from the Evergreen Aviation Museum and Water Park and back pedaling through McMinnville’s wine country and surrounding vineyards. The guided cycling trek includes a tee shirt and your admission into the Sip! Wine and Food Classic. This annual three-day benefit fundraiser for St. James School takes place every March, so plan ahead and reserve your favorite hotel or bed and breakfast for a delicious weekend of eating and drinking in Oregon wine country!
