Red Hills Kitchen to Open in Historic Downtown McMinnville

Beloved Wine Country Food Outpost Will Open the Red Hills Kitchen in the New Atticus Hotel in March 2019!

Red Hills Market will bring the quintessential wine dining experience to downtown McMinnville as part of the new Atticus Hotel. Chef and owner Jody Kropf announced he will open “Red Hills Kitchen” in March 2019. The restaurant will be an elevated version of Kropf’s widely-popular flagship Red Hills Market, located in Dundee, Ore.

“The Red Hills Kitchen will present delicious food and drink without attitude, in a manner of service with passion,” said chef and owner Jody Kropf. “We will strive to maintain the warm, welcoming Red Hills Market vibe with some new twists.”

Red Hills Kitchen will be an Oregon style restaurant spinning the best elements of Red Hills Market into a new iteration with an extended menu and a heavier focus on a seated dining experience with table service. There will be a small, locally-focused, carefully procured grab-n-go/retail section in addition to the restaurant.

The bar, which will feature hand-crafted cocktails, will be serving drinks and small plates that will be available in the Atticus Hotel lobby and hotel’s hidden drawing room. Additionally, Red Hills Kitchen will provide room service for hotel guests “We are thrilled to welcome Red Hills Kitchen to the Atticus Hotel family,” said Erin Stephenson, co-owner of the Atticus Hotel. “The Atticus Hotel is deeply inspired by the community and showcases the outstanding work of our most creative local minds. It’s only fitting that Jody and his restaurant settle in here.”

The menu will be live-fire based with a continual focus on being local, fresh, and seasonal. Included will be a few of the highly popular items from the Red Hills Market menu. There will also be a delectable variety of new dishes ranging from light to decadent. The menu will showcase a variety of options for gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, seafood and meat lovers alike.

Fresh mini doughnuts will be made available for breakfast and drinking hours. Other highlights will include wood-fired shellfish, tasty raw foods and a selection of shareable small plates and platters. The Red Hills Kitchen wine program will be focused on the bounty of Oregon with help and guidance from the best sources available: Willamette Valley winemakers. The first wine list will be powered by suggestions from Cody Wright of Purple Hands Winery. Every season will feature a new wine list mentor from the wine makers of Oregon.

Kropf grew up on a farm in rural Oregon where he developed a keen connection to the land. He went on to study at Western Culinary Institute before joining Portland’s esteemed Heathman Restaurant and setting sail all over the globe as a personal chef. He and his wife Michelle started Red Hills Market in 2011, treating the Willamette Valley to a casual and inviting eatery that falls somewhere between an artfully curated farm store and an upscale deli, centered around a wood fired oven.

“It’s incredibly exciting to be teaming up with the Atticus Hotel in the heart of downtown McMinnville to open the Red Hills Kitchen,” Kropf said. “The Willamette Valley wine country continues to grow, and a second location allows us to get even closer to our guests, with fresh ingredients and great food for both those dining in and looking for picnic supplies.”

The Red Hills Kitchen will take over the hotel restaurant space previously occupied by Bless Your Heart Burgers and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner along with brunch on the weekends.
